Simple enough, it stops that old DS Lite from gathering dust by making it usable. NO MORE EXPENSIVE PAPER WEIGHTS.
I wish it had said that more clearly in the product description, but oh well. For 10 bucks, it isn't worth my time to return it. I mean, how ridiculous would Nintendo have to be to have a different power supply for ever bonehead device they come up with.Well, guess what. I assumed this would work with the regular DS, which my kid has. I thought it might fit into my kids ps3 controller to charge it, as they were both about 5v, but NOOO, Nintendo gizmo hell strikes again, the goofy little connector won't fit that either. Yip. The little blue sticker on the box in the picture says DS Lite Only when you get it close enough to actually read. Grrrr. Into the junk drawer with all the other stuff I'll never use again.
The charger seems to work fine so far, but I did think I was buying an original replacement charger and not a third party one. I'm sure it will be fine, but I honestly would have paid a few dollars more to have one backed by Nintendo in the event there are any issues. The picture for the product shouldn't include a photo of the original product since that's misleading.
My son's never said a word about it not working right. So if he's happy, I'm happy.
Product is in a factory plastic bag. Worked right off the bat. Not in container shown (like they took it straight out of a DS box and shipped it out). it IS Nintendo brand. I needed my charger because I left mine at work then I got laid off and forgot to look under my desk for it and I was taking a long flight and needed my DS charged and this item did the trick. Highly recommend as a replacement/duplicate charger.
